Who you are:
The Sous Chef is the second hand man to the Executive Chef. He/she must be able to take direction from the Executive Chef to understand and execute all menu items according to recipes. The Sous Chef must have a passion for cuisine and hospitality.
What you’ll do:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare food for service to specification from proprietary recipes, e.g.chopping veg, butchering meat, making sauces, garnishes, etc..
- Observe and distinguish product quality by smell, taste, and appearance.
- Cook in coordination with other cooks to ensure proper timing on tickets.
- Effectively communicate with the Executive Chef and other kitchen personnel.
- Be up to code with safety and food regulations.
What we need from you:
- Must possess or be able to obtain Food Manager's Permit.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in a chef-driven restaurant.
- Have a passion for cuisine and hospitality.
- Be able to perform all essential job functions of the position.
- Effectively communicate in English with the Executive Chef and other kitchen personnel.
- Be dependable and punctual.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends.
- Must have experience at a high volume establishment.
- Fine dining experience is preferred
